Creating Empathy

“A picture is worth a thousand words” Actually I think thats quite an underestimate. Besides ideas, they also communicate emotions, and something deeper in the subconscious. An image creates empathy that can change people’s perspectives and beliefs.

Whether I am in a desolate part of Paraguay photographing in a region with no economic opportunities for indigenous people, in the aftermath of an earthquake, or a young girl who survived deep trauma. I try to find the joy, the strength of people. How they overcame and persevered over their circumstances. This is what I want people to feel when they see an image I have created; admiration and positive feelings towards the subject.

Equals regardless of color, creed, economic or social status.

Building empathy through respect and dignified story telling creates genuine empathy to causes.
